The Lord of the Rings: Staff of Gandalf the White
His task was not yet done.
After perishing alongside the Balrog, he returned to Middle-earth: not as he once was, but wielding even greater power as Gandalf the White. His transformation complete, rough-hewn robes gave way to pristine cloth, and gnarled wood to an elven-crafted, pure white staff.
This 1:1 prop replica of the Staff of Gandalf the White begins where the original did: with a complete 3D scan of the screen-used staff, originally crafted by the 3Foot6 art department for The Lord of the Rings trilogy.
Those scans served as the foundation for sculptor Leonard Ellis, who used them as direct reference to build the final digital model, ensuring the replica holds true to its source with complete fidelity. No detail has been left to interpretation.
Cast in polystone with a hollow metal tube at its core, the staff is engineered for the weight and feel of the real thing. Substantial in the hand and built to last in the collection.
It takes hundreds of hours to design, sculpt, model make, mold, and paint the prototype for each new Middle-earth piece. Whether it be a prop replica, beautiful environment, or iconic character, we treat our collectibles with the same level of care and attention to detail that we bring to our film work.
“Our authentic prop replicas and collectibles are designed by the very same artists who have worked on the three films, so effectively they come straight from Middle-earth.” Richard Taylor – CEO & Co-founder, Wētā Workshop
